The main topic during this Citizens Dialogue was the Common Agricultural Policy (the CAP). Participants in the room ask their questions to Minister of Agriculture Carola Schouten and European Commissioner Phill Hogan. Even more people watched the event via the Facebook livestream and they were able to submit their questions through online tool Sli.do. Anna moderated the interactive session.

"Why would an Italian farmer be confronted with the same environmental requirements as a Finnish or Dutch farmer, while farming in very different circumstances? That is why there will be a change from a "one size fits all" approach to a customized approach. This means that EU requirements will be kept to a minimum and the 28 Member States will themselves prepare a strategic plan on the CAP, which will probably be submitted to the European Commission in the summer of 2018."

This meeting was organized by the Representation of the European Commission in The Hague, the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and the LTO and took place on January 9, 2018.
